June 17, 2015 The big yard

The little monkeys (aka 7 week puppies) dug under the fence of  the middle size yard into the big yard and were they HAPPY ABOUT IT!! The trouble with broadening their horizons is that they are not happy ( and not quiet about IT) when they don’t get what they want.  I don’t let them over there unless we are there watching and that isn’t 6 am😁 stinkers!

Dennis is having a fun visit, but Shelby is really not at ease here.  She sticks close to Harlee and won’t eat unless I feed her in Harlees room.  She’s sweet like Patti and all this activity  (6 adult dogs and 7 puppies) is a lot to take in.  She really avoids Rene who is NOT happy her Harlee is busy with some one else!  At the park she’s fine, she chases the ball with Dennis and really enjoys herself.  Just a few more days and she can get back to her regular life.  I feel bad for her 😥

June 16, 2015 Seven weeks old!

I’m always surprised when my time with the babies is almost over.  It goes SO FAST!! 😭 Shots on Thursday then on Monday Mercedes starts her long trip to Arizona via a transport company.  I’m really happy she won’t be flying ( even if she could it’s so hot) she’ll love the attention! Puck/Manny’s dad may take him home over the weekend.  Artie goes home mid week, Sue and Kurt Sunday.  Boo Hoo.

Shelby is still unsettled, we were at the manor ( named so because it’s a subdivision WEST COVE MANOR) the retirement home we are building across the lake and I needed to put a second coat of paint on the doors.  We usually go to the park for a good run then to the manor for 3-4 hours of work.  Shelby and Dennis were with us of course and Harlee swims.  Shelby was fine ( well not really, okay and not pacing) as long as she could see Harlee in the water.  I painted the front door and blocked it with a baby gate so it could dry and moved on to the back door.  I heard a noise in the direction of the gate and thought Dennis had jumped over but it was Shelby, now in the water with Harlee haha.  They stayed out there awhile and played then both came in to dry on the balcony.  Thankfully Harlees mom said she could stay for the time we have Shelby or that poor dog would be miserable😩

June 15, 2015 DENNIS and Shelby visit

Poor Shelby, she just doesn’t know what to do.  She lays in the puppy room where she was born and looks so sad.  She perks up at the park, but is very displaced here with all the other dogs😢 Harlee has stayed in her room ( which is now good as new thank you Larry the contractor) with her and she is much happier giving and getting kisses😘 she will eat if I feed her down there.  Dennis doesn’t care where he is, he’s a happy boy eager to comply😀 loves to chase the ball and boy can he run, we love to watch him! Grace tolerates him, they’ll start playing about the time he goes home😕

Babies are doing great.  Going home next week😭 Finn and Cameo will be staying a couple extra weeks YEAH! Beware new families, we’ve spoiled them rotten!!!

June 14, 2015 DENNIS and Shelby!

Dennis is here for a week and he brought his adorable adopted sister our Doris/Shelby! What a delightful boy he is! He really reminds me a lot of Wally.  He has not been one bit bothered by being here.  Is happy whatever were doing and loves everybody.  He will make a perfect stud muffin, just the personality we love for our future babies!

Shelby however is worried.  She won’t eat and really doesn’t want to interact other than at the park.  She is stuck like glue to Harlee.  She reminds me so much of both her mom Patti Sue ( they wagged when they reunited) and our beloved Ruben.  She’s huge, 90 lbs I’d say and SO SWEET.  I feel bad for her, she is so lost😩 hopefully she’ll be more comfortable in a couple days.

June 13, 2015 PUPLINGS

The babies love Grace, they follow her like little ducklings, so adorable! They get cuter by the minute😀 Rene and Dottie still dutifully feed them even with those sharp teeth.  I feed them Taste of the wild grain free kibble mixed with chopped chicken heart and gizzards, eggs, tuna, ground turkey etc they are gaining about two lbs a week.  Good food is as important to how big they get as their genetics and we LOVE BIG POODLES!

June 12, 2015 Nicholas and Greta

What happy pups!! Elliot’s litter mate Kudos/Nicholas and Bernette/Greta a Patti Sue and Ruben baby! I love seeing our pups enjoying their lives!! All’s well here.  Harlee and I are preparing ourselves for next week when the babies start going home 😀😭 it really is hard to be sad when the new family is SO HAPPY!! We are getting so excited about the reunion.  It’s such a fun day of poodles and friends!! We love that people are camping!! June 27 10 am to 2 pm!!

June 11, 2015 Haircuts!

A big part of our getting babies ready for their new lives is haircuts.  We shave “something” every week so they get used to the sound of the clippers and being confined.  It makes a difference!  I love shaved faces and clean feet they look so darn cute!!

June 10, 2015 Grace kiss!

There is nothing like a big wet poodle kiss and especially one from Grace! She is stingy with her kisses and if you get one she really likes you.  She is definitely a one person dog, MINE 😍 she is never more than a few inches from me😍 I’m anxious to see how she does with a visit from her sister Doris/Shelby and DENNIS! They’ll be staying with us a week while their family goes to a wedding.  Grace hates having other dogs here.  Poor Rosalie, for several hours she is followed and STARED at.  She takes it all in stride trying to avoid Grace☺️ haha makes for a busy house!

June 9, 2015 PONTOON ride!

What a nice night for a pontoon ride.  The girls just love it.  The boat seems empty with just six dogs😓 We had ten poodles for years and sadly they have left us.  Sadly it’s time to downsize both the size of the house and number of pets, lots of mixed feelings about that.  Babies are little terrors in the grass yard haha, it is not as safe as the tile yard so I don’t always let them in there (and poop is harder to clean up) when the gate is closed they have a melt down😳lol after just one day they know it’s more fun in there, lots of things to chew😀 Little smarties!

June 8, 2015 Checkers 😭

It’s been three years since I said a tearful ( to say the least) goodbye to my sweet Checkers ( mom of Patti Sue) such a wonderful girl, so sweet and loving 😭 I rescued her from a breeder in Ohio ( her and her sister Jazz) they were terribly neglected with their only function to have babies.  thankfully poodles were too much work and they unloaded them at two years old after their first litters but the damage was done.  Jazz did fine but as Checkers got older she was very fearful and sadly became unpredictable.  When she charged at Tom I had no choice but to put her to sleep😭😭😭one of the worst thing I’ve ever had to do.   I was so happy I had her seven years, I was her everything.   I loved her and she knew it.  I hold Patti, close my eyes and for a moment I pretend she’s my sweet Checkers, the girl who would have been a totally different dog had her first home been someone who had loved her 😭😭😭
