Rene’s babies are five weeks old today and so cute! They are feisty little lovers like their mom😊 I was worried about how they would adjust to being with the older pups but the little stinkers are fearless ( like their mom). I love to see how the the pups bond to a sibling. Tsarina and Ceaser are always together, Highness and Emir, Dolly and Waylon and Toby and Luke ( who are going home together). Rene is SO HAPPY when her litter mate Rosalie comes, and always tries to go home with her. Reminds me of the bond my twin grand boys have. It’s very special. I LOVE when my babies can stay together!
November 9, 2014 Grandpa Elliot turns five!
Dottie and Rene have the cutest darn dad, our Elliot! He is such a fun boy, smart and loving like his mom Jazz ( the smartest dog I’ve ever seen) Dottie is SO MUCH LIKE HIM! I love having a family tree to look back on. So many babies remind me more of grandparents than parents and often aunts and uncles. We are very proud of our generations of wonderful poodles. Not only does it give us health history you can’t get from testing, it gives us size, body type and personality from years of dogs. Rene is like her grandpa Beau, Lexie’s dad. No matter WHO they take after, they are delightful loving pets 😍😘
November 8′ 2014 Twenty baths!
Another day of rain so it seemed like a good day for baths and haircuts! It’s good to change the routine and give the babies a change of scenery. They are not comfortable upstairs, so it’s good for them. Harlee was here helping, she dried and gave them extra lovin 😍 it was a busy day with twenty baths, shaved twenty faces and sixty feet. Sounds like a lot but it really isn’t that bad, they are really good about all of it and it goes fast. They are all just as cute as they can be. Extra cute when they are fluffy!!
November 7, 2014 *101 Dalmation babies birthday
Happy Birthday
Happy Third Birthday to our 101 Dalmation babies (Nicole & Elliot) which include our wonderful Pickles/Dottie mom to our babies 6 weeks old! Polka/Splash (below) Cinder/Monique (below) Chester, Otto, Spot, Patch and Jake/Fenway!! What a fun litter and all spoiled beauties!!
All’s well here, babies are growing and so darn cute, they love to be cuddled!! We are trying to adjust to a routine without Reba, the first week is hard on all of us. We are missing our special girl 😭😭😭
November 6, 2014 rain😁
It is so hard to get good pictures on rainy days. Dottie’s babies go out and play ( and potty) and get filthy romping and rolling around ☺️. Rene’s babies regress and pee inside😳they are doing so good (aside from rain) they always go out to poop which is really helpful!! I have a light out side for them, and hear them go out about 5 am. So smart! People don’t believe they go home potty trained here, but it’s true. They tell me later that they were really amazed, what a bonus to get a baby that knows they need to go outside!!
November 5, 2014 Goodbye to my Reba Rose
Today I said a tearful goodbye to my princess Reba Rose, dear friend for 13 years😭
Three years ago she tore the tendons in her wrist leaving her front foot useless. We went to a surgeon but at her age (10) surgery was not recommended. I found a company that made a custom brace that gave her total mobility and she didn’t seem to mind it. However over the last year that wrist became very knotty and she struggled and fought through haircuts. I’d wait as long as possible but the extra hair ( matted) and the thick pad it made her leg hot, I had no choice. I knew it hurt her but would go slow and be as careful as I could. My poor girl. But she seemed happy and loved swimming and running around the park. I was so happy when she turned 13! It had been so long since I’d had a teenager!! I noticed over the last month her panting when no one else was ( it’s how they deal with pain) she had been getting pain meds ( not strong) but they didn’t seem to help so we went to the vet. He examined her and said she was in very good health for her age, except for that leg. I had even considered amputation but dismissed it as I knew the other leg would not be able to do the work of both legs for long and the surgery would be very hard on her😥
Last week she didn’t get out of the truck when we went to the park and I knew she was in more pain than I realized. Her sweet loving eyes had lost their spark and I knew I had no choice but to relieve her suffering. As heartbreaking as it is to have them pass on their own, the trip to the vet is worse. We are sad beyond words. Broken hearted. I always feel a little better when they return home to us, where they would WANT to be. Harlee (Ba was her first word, calling Reba) and I will spread some of her ashes at the park, the remainder will rest in my bedroom with my other departed pets. Thank you for all your kind words. They mean a lot to us.
November 4, 2014 Puppies past
November 3, 2014 Puppy Socializer
Harlee’s job is to put the babies on their backs. For most it’s not an issue, others need to feel safe, so it is a process 🙂 She is always so proud when having her task completed. Her interaction seems to ensure the babies love kids. Alls well, babies are happy and growing like weeds. I just WISH THEY KNEW ABOUT TIME CHANGE😳😁 They insist I get up at five!
November 2, 2014 Baths!
Another ten baths! good thing they’re small☺️they get so crusty from their food that they need a good scrubbing 😍We had visitors too, who will be taking a baby but with three girls (7, 10 and 12) they can’t agree on who the lucky pup will be😃
Whoever they select will be a wonderful pet they will remember all their lives. There is no wrong picking with our babies😍😍😍
November 1, 2014 Halloween Poodles
Seeing this girl Barbie/Lacey from Francis & Jack’s Toy Story litter makes me happy/sad. She is SO LIKE HER MOTHER! IT is so comforting that our babies live on but we miss our departed friends. Below is Athena/Tala a beautiful Citori & Beau baby (as is Lexie and Izzie). I was actually so busy it never occurred to me to decorate for Halloween until the 28th!! I LOVE HALLOWEEN, my favorite and I missed it😳oh well puppies are more fun anyway!
I’m worried about my Reba, that gnarled leg is getting the best of her. I honestly can’t see the point of keeping her on heavy pain meds. She’s not having any fun and I feel miserable for her. My heart aches for the decision I fear I will be forced to make. My wonderful girl, a pure delight I can’t imagine life without her😭😭😭
